America's oldest continuously operated hotel located in the historic Hudson Valley NY. The Inn at Pine Plains

In nearby Pine Plains (close to the new James Beard Award nominated restaurant Stissing House), the seven-room Inn at Pine Plains is as unassuming as it gets. Once inside, though, it’s another story. This is a true, charming, upscale boutique inn.

It’s your basic mid-1800’s home stretched and expanded to accommodate more rooms. Built as a private home in 1848, it served as a preschool before being renovated as a lodging in 2015. Though reception is through a door on the street – several other entrances front a for-guests-only gravel parking lot.

Troutbeck

A really well-designed estate hotel with pool, restaurant, tennis courts, etc. Troutbeck has served as an enchanting private estate, country inn and tavern since the 1700's and has for centuries, been a favored retreat of distinguished guests important in the arts, letters, matters of policy and social justice. During the time of the estate’s first owners, the Benton Family, it played frequent host to Thoreau, Emerson and the naturalist, John Burroughs.
